Eliminating Self-Defeating Behaviors In Children & The Child-At-Heart

This is fabulous guide to help you change the behaviors that you no longer want in your life or the lives of your loved ones. It is a simple step by step guide with stories to help the reader understand how changing their behaviors will change the future of their lives. The Author Linda Dianne Suda is a Social worker and has taught this method to thousands of people and had exceptional results. She keeps it simple enough that a child can implement it. Thousands have done so, and have enjoyed the game and challenge of getting rid of specific self-defeating behaviors.

One line that is key to her program that I think is important to every aspect of personal growth and achievement is taking accountability, and making a choice. Linda puts it this way. “I chose to do my Self-Defeating Behavior. I can choose not to do it.”

Another part of the program is to recognize the patterns in your life prior to doing the actual behavior.  I’ve heard these patterns called rituals. The thoughts, feelings and actions taken before you actually get to the behavior you dislike so much. It is far easier to stop the behavior if you can notice these rituals and take action at that time, rather than later when you’ve already told yourself a story, felt the emotions of the story and begun to act in a way that will help you cope with the emotions. Linda says, “we choose what we think. What we think determines how we feel, and our feelings, in turn, determine our actions.”
